Audencel (AV0113) is an autologous dendritic cell-based cancer vaccine developed by Activartis Biotech. The therapy involves monocyte-derived dendritic cells that are harvested from the patient and loaded ex vivo with tumor cell lysates derived from the patient's own tumor tissue. This process is designed to prime the immune system to recognize and mount a T-cell mediated response against a broad spectrum of tumor-specific antigens. Audencel has been primarily investigated for the treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and refractory solid tumors in pediatric patients, including various types of sarcoma. In a multicentric Phase II trial for GBM, the vaccine was administered intranodally but failed to demonstrate a significant improvement in progression-free survival at 12 months compared to the standard of care.
