Overview

AUG-3387 is a human-derived monoclonal antibody developed as a dry powder formulation for inhaled or intranasal delivery, targeting the treatment and prevention of COVID-19. It was isolated from an asymptomatic patient and specifically binds to the spike (S) protein of SARS-CoV-2, neutralizing the virus and reducing viral load in preclinical models. The drug has demonstrated broad activity against multiple major variants of concern, including Alpha (B.1.1.7), Beta (B.1.351), Gamma (P.1), Delta (B.1.617.2), Kappa (B.1.617.1), Lambda, and Mu variants[2][3][5][6]. The dry powder formulation enables direct delivery to the lungs or upper respiratory tract via inhalation or nasal administration, potentially allowing at-home use without cold-chain storage requirements[2][3][7]. Developed through a collaboration between Augmenta Bioworks and TFF Pharmaceuticals using thin-film freeze-drying technology, AUG-3387 represents an innovative approach for both post-exposure treatment in high-risk individuals not yet hospitalized and prophylactic use in those at high risk for severe disease[3][6].
