Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Augment Injectable** is an implantable orthopedic combination product formerly developed as **GEM OS2**. It combines recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor-BB, also called becaplermin, with an injectable beta-tricalcium phosphate and bovine type I collagen matrix. Becaplermin activates platelet-derived growth factor receptors to promote chemotaxis, cellular proliferation, angiogenesis, and bone repair, while the bioresorbable matrix provides an osteoconductive scaffold. The product is approved in the United States as an alternative to autograft for ankle and hindfoot arthrodesis when supplemental graft material is needed.
