Overview

AUP-18 is an investigational bacterial gene therapy candidate being developed by Aurealis Therapeutics for the treatment of undisclosed dermatological and inflammatory conditions. The therapy is built upon the company's proprietary 4-in-1 synthetic biology platform, which utilizes a genetically engineered strain of the non-pathogenic, food-grade bacterium *Lactococcus lactis*. AUP-18 is designed to function as a localized, living bioreactor that, upon administration to the site of disease, expresses and secretes a combination of four therapeutic proteins—typically including human growth factors and immunomodulatory cytokines. This multi-target approach aims to modulate the local immune environment and promote tissue regeneration. As of early 2024, the specific therapeutic targets and the exact clinical indications within dermatology and inflammation remain undisclosed by the developer.
