Overview

AUP-20 is an investigational bacterial gene therapy being developed by Aurealis Therapeutics for the treatment of undisclosed metabolic and inflammatory diseases. The therapy is built upon the company's proprietary 4-in-1 synthetic biology platform, which employs genetically modified *Lactococcus lactis*—a non-pathogenic, food-grade bacterium—as a living vehicle for drug delivery. AUP-20 is engineered to act as a localized bioreactor at the site of disease, where it expresses and secretes multiple therapeutic proteins (such as cytokines or growth factors) to modulate specific metabolic and inflammatory pathways. This multi-target approach is designed to enhance therapeutic efficacy while maintaining a favorable safety profile through localized action.
