Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Auration CR is a 400 mg controlled-release generic formulation of carbamazepine developed by the Center for Clinical Pharmacology Research Bdbeq S.A. in Uruguay. As a generic version of Tegretol CR, it contains carbamazepine, a small molecule drug that functions as an antiepileptic, antineuralgic, and mood stabilizer. Its primary mechanism of action involves blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, which stabilizes hyperexcited neuronal membranes and inhibits repetitive neuronal firing. This action prevents the spread of seizure activity and reduces pain signaling in neuralgic conditions. Auration CR is indicated for the treatment of epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia, and bipolar disorder, and has been evaluated in bioequivalence studies to ensure comparable pharmacokinetic performance to the reference innovative product.
