Aurex-3 is a dietary supplement containing concentrated omega-3 fatty acids, specifically eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), derived from fish oil. It is primarily indicated for the management of hypertriglyceridemia and as a supportive treatment for cardiovascular health. The mechanism of action involves the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), particularly the alpha isoform, which enhances the expression of genes involved in fatty acid oxidation and reduces the hepatic synthesis of very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL). Additionally, omega-3 fatty acids inhibit sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1c (SREBP-1c), leading to decreased lipogenesis. Aurex-3 also possesses anti-inflammatory properties by shifting the production of eicosanoids from pro-inflammatory series-2 prostaglandins and series-4 leukotrienes to less inflammatory series-3 and series-5 variants, thereby improving endothelial function and reducing systemic inflammation.
