Auricular point stimulation + dexamethasone is a combination intervention being investigated for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). It pairs **auricular point stimulation**, a traditional Chinese medicine technique involving the stimulation of specific acupressure points on the ear (often using Vaccaria seeds), with **dexamethasone**, a synthetic glucocorticoid. Dexamethasone acts as an antiemetic by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, while auricular stimulation is hypothesized to modulate emetic pathways through the nervous system. This regimen is currently being evaluated in a Phase 3 trial (NCT07537673) by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, specifically for patients receiving trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) for breast cancer.
