AuriNovo is a patient-specific, 3D-bioprinted living tissue implant designed for the surgical reconstruction of the external ear (auricle) in individuals born with microtia (Grades II-IV). Developed by 3DBio Therapeutics (also known as PrintBio), the product utilizes a proprietary 3D-bioprinting platform to create a collagen hydrogel scaffold encapsulating the patient's own auricular chondrocytes, which are harvested from a small biopsy of the existing ear. The implant is printed to match the exact size and shape of the patient's opposite ear and includes a biodegradable polydioxanone overshell for structural support. As an autologous cell-based therapy, it aims to provide a living, growing, and integrated tissue replacement that avoids the complications associated with synthetic implants or invasive rib cartilage grafts.
