AURKB siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of Aurora kinase B (AURKB), a key mitotic serine/threonine kinase involved in chromosome segregation, cytokinesis, and cell cycle progression. AURKB is frequently overexpressed in various cancers, including esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, and glioblastoma, where it contributes to tumor progression, chromosomal instability, and drug resistance. It is also implicated in pathological retinal angiogenesis and pulmonary arterial hypertension. By sequence-specifically binding to and promoting the degradation of AURKB mRNA, AURKB siRNA inhibits cell proliferation, induces cell cycle arrest, and promotes apoptosis. While primarily utilized as a research tool to investigate the biological functions of AURKB and validate it as a therapeutic target, preclinical studies have also explored its therapeutic potential using various delivery systems such as lipid nanoparticles and extracellular vesicles.
