Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aurogreen is a sterile, lyophilized diagnostic dye containing indocyanine green (ICG) as the active ingredient. Developed by Aurolab, it is primarily used as a contrast agent in ophthalmic angiography to visualize retinal and choroidal blood vessels. It is also utilized in various surgical procedures, such as hepatobiliary surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and sentinel lymph node mapping, to assess tissue perfusion, blood flow, and hepatic function. Upon intravenous administration, indocyanine green rapidly binds to plasma proteins and remains confined to the intravascular compartment. When exposed to near-infrared (NIR) light, it fluoresces, allowing real-time visualization of vascular structures and organ perfusion. It is rapidly cleared by the liver and excreted into bile without being metabolized.
