Overview

Aurora 1:1 Drops (Indica) is a cannabis-based oil formulation containing a balanced 1:1 ratio of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Developed by the BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU) and manufactured by Aurora Cannabis, this product is being evaluated as an adjunct therapy to methadone-based Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) for individuals living with opioid use disorder (OUD). The formulation is created by extracting cannabinoids and terpenes from the Indica cannabis plant and diluting the concentrated extract in medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil. The therapeutic rationale is that the combination of THC and CBD may help manage opioid withdrawal symptoms and cravings, potentially improving retention in OAT and reducing illicit opioid use.
