Overview

**Aurovertin B** is a mycotoxin and antibiotic produced by the fungus *Calcarisporium arbuscula*. It is classified as a c-glycosyl compound and has the molecular formula C25H32O8. Its primary mechanism of action is the inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation through noncompetitive inhibition of both ATP hydrolysis and synthesis. This occurs via binding to beta-subunits in the F1 catalytic sector of mitochondrial F1F0-ATP synthase, preventing closure of catalytic interfaces necessary for ATP production. Aurovertin B has demonstrated potent antiproliferative and pro-apoptotic activity against several cancer cell lines, particularly triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), with evidence for antimetastatic effects mediated by upregulation of dual-specificity phosphatase 1 (DUSP1) via activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3). It shows less cytotoxicity toward normal cells compared to standard chemotherapeutics like taxol[2][3][7][9].
