Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AUSCEPO is an antibiotic medication containing cefpodoxime, a third-generation cephalosporin. Developed and marketed by Austex Pharmaceuticals, it is primarily used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections and pneumonia. Cefpodoxime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through the binding and inactivation of penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are essential for the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. The drug is available in oral formulations such as tablets and dry syrups and is marketed in India for both adult and pediatric use.
