Overview

Autogenous Demineralized Dentin Graft (ADDG) is an autologous biomaterial developed and investigated by researchers at Cairo University for use in regenerative dentistry. It is prepared from a patient's own freshly extracted teeth, which are cleaned, ground into particles, and demineralized using 0.6N hydrochloric acid. This process preserves the organic matrix, primarily Type I collagen, and endogenous growth factors such as bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), while removing the mineral phase to enhance the release of these inductive signals. The material serves as an osteoconductive and osteoinductive scaffold, promoting bone formation in periodontal intrabony defects and alveolar ridge preservation sites. It is being evaluated as a cost-effective and biocompatible alternative to autogenous bone grafts.
