Overview

Autogenous dentin graft is a bone substitute material derived from a patient's own extracted teeth. Dentin is chemically and structurally similar to human bone, consisting of approximately 70% inorganic hydroxyapatite and 30% organic matrix, which is primarily composed of Type I collagen and growth factors such as Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (BMP-2). To prepare the graft, the extracted tooth is cleaned, demineralized, and processed into granules or blocks. It is primarily used in dental procedures such as alveolar ridge preservation (socket preservation) and sinus augmentation. Because it is autogenous, it eliminates the risk of cross-infection or immunological rejection and provides osteoconductive and potentially osteoinductive properties to support new bone formation.
