Overview

Autogenous Partially Demineralized Dentine Matrix (APDDM) is a biological bone graft material derived from a patient's own extracted teeth, specifically processed for use in alveolar ridge preservation and bone augmentation. The preparation involves cleaning the extracted tooth, removing all restorative materials, and milling the dentin into particles. These particles are then partially demineralized using a solution of hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide, a process that preserves the organic matrix while exposing essential growth factors. APDDM contains Type I collagen and various signaling molecules, including Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) and Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-β), which provide both osteoconductive and osteoinductive properties. This autogenous approach minimizes the risk of immunological rejection and disease transmission while promoting rapid and high-quality new bone formation. Cairo University has been a key institution in evaluating its clinical efficacy compared to allogeneic alternatives in the aesthetic zone.
