Autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (Ad-MSC) spheroids pretreated with matrillin 3 are an investigational regenerative therapy designed for cartilage repair and regeneration. In this approach, a patient's own Ad-MSCs are formed into three-dimensional spheroids and exposed to matrillin 3, an extracellular matrix protein known to enhance chondrogenic differentiation and suppress hypertrophic changes in the cells. This pretreatment modulates the therapeutic effect of Ad-MSCs by increasing expression of chondrogenic markers (such as SOX9, collagen II, aggrecan) while reducing markers associated with hypertrophy and ossification (such as collagen X, RUNX2, ALP). The resulting product is intended for intra-articular or intradiscal administration to promote hyaline-like cartilage regeneration and prevent subchondral bone sclerosis in conditions such as osteoarthritis or chronic discogenic low back pain[1][2][4][5].
