Overview

Autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) is a cell therapy being developed by the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for the treatment of urinary incontinence, particularly in men following prostatectomy. The therapy involves the isolation of mesenchymal stem cells from the patient's own adipose tissue, which are then expanded and mixed with a collagen gel. This mixture is injected submucosally into the urethral area to promote tissue regeneration and improve the structural integrity and function of the urinary sphincter. The collagen gel acts as a scaffold to support the survival and integration of the stem cells at the injection site.
