Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are multipotent stromal cells isolated from a patient's own adipose (fat) tissue. These cells can differentiate into various cell types including osteoblasts, chondrocytes, myocytes, and adipocytes. They are primarily used in regenerative medicine due to their ability to promote tissue repair and modulate immune responses. The therapeutic effects of these MSCs are mediated through several mechanisms: - Differentiation into target tissues for direct replacement of damaged or diseased cells. - Paracrine signaling via secretion of soluble factors that support cell viability, proliferation, angiogenesis, antiapoptotic activity, antioxidative effects, and immunomodulation. - Modulation of both innate and adaptive immune responses through direct cell-cell contact and the release of exosomes containing microRNAs. These properties make them promising candidates for treating a wide range of conditions such as autoimmune diseases (e.g., graft versus host disease), degenerative disorders (e.g., osteoarthritis), cardiovascular diseases (e.g., myocardial infarction), neurological disorders (e.g., multiple sclerosis), diabetes mellitus type 1, Crohn's disease, bone deficiency disorders, and more[1][3][4].
