An investigational autologous cell therapy consisting of adipose-derived stromal cells (hASCs) harvested from the patient's own fat tissue. Developed by Hospital do Coracao (InCor) in Brazil, the therapy involves the intramyocardial injection of these mesenchymal stromal cells during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. The primary goal is to treat ischemic myocardium in patients with coronary artery disease by stimulating revascularization. The mechanism of action is primarily paracrine, where the injected cells secrete factors that promote angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels) rather than directly differentiating into new cardiac muscle. This approach aims to decrease post-infarction deterioration and improve cardiac function through the induction of new vessel formation.
