Overview

Autologous adipose-derived stromal cells from stromal vascular fraction are an investigational, patient-specific **cell therapy** developed by Mayo Clinic for wound healing in pressure ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers. The product is prepared from a small-volume liposuction harvest of the participant's own adipose tissue, from which an uncultured stromal vascular fraction containing adipose-derived stromal cells is isolated. The cells are incorporated into a fibrin sealant carrier and applied directly to the wound. The intended activity is local paracrine support of tissue repair, including modulation of inflammation, promotion of angiogenesis, and stimulation of granulation tissue formation and wound regeneration. This intervention was evaluated in the Mayo Clinic-sponsored Phase 1 pilot study NCT02375802.
