Overview

Autologous adipose-derived vascular stromal fraction (SVF) is a heterogeneous cell therapy product obtained from a patient's own adipose tissue through lipoaspiration and enzymatic or mechanical processing. The SVF contains a diverse population of cells, including mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs), endothelial progenitor cells, pericytes, fibroblasts, and various immune cells. This mixture is being investigated for its regenerative potential, particularly in degenerative conditions like retinitis pigmentosa, where it is thought to provide neurotrophic support to photoreceptors, modulate inflammatory responses, and promote angiogenesis to improve retinal microcirculation. The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University is conducting exploratory clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this autologous cell therapy in adults with retinitis pigmentosa.
