This is an autologous cell therapy developed by Kanazawa University for the treatment of ischemic heart failure. The therapy involves the isolation of mesenchymal stem cells from a patient's own adipose tissue, which are then administered via intracoronary injection using cardiac catheterization. These adipose tissue-derived stromal cells (ADSCs) possess the potential to differentiate into cardiomyocytes, vascular endothelial cells, and vascular smooth muscle cells, thereby promoting myocardial regeneration and improving cardiac function in patients with a reduced ejection fraction (less than 40%). Adipose tissue is utilized as a source due to its relative enrichment with mesenchymal stem cells compared to bone marrow tissue.
