Autologous alveolar bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (aBM-MSCs) are a patient-specific cellular therapy derived from multipotent progenitor cells harvested via osseous biopsy of the alveolar bone. These cells are isolated and expanded ex vivo under clinical-grade conditions using autologous serum to eliminate the risk of contamination from animal-derived reagents. Investigated primarily for regenerative applications in dentistry, aBM-MSCs are typically delivered to the surgical site within a biocomplex consisting of a collagen fleece scaffold and autologous fibrin glue. The therapeutic mechanism involves the differentiation of these cells into osteoblasts to promote bone tissue reconstruction, as well as the secretion of paracrine factors that modulate the local inflammatory environment and enhance angiogenesis. Clinical studies have focused on their efficacy in regenerating infrabony periodontal defects and preserving crestal bone during dental implant placement.
