Autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells are a type of cellular immunotherapy developed for the treatment of B-cell malignancies, including relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). The therapy involves harvesting a patient's own T cells, genetically engineering them ex vivo to express a CAR that specifically targets the CD19 antigen—a protein highly conserved and expressed on the surface of normal and malignant B cells—and then infusing the modified cells back into the patient. Upon binding to CD19, the CAR-T cells undergo activation, proliferation, and mediate targeted cytotoxicity against CD19-positive leukemia cells. Dongguan Taixin Hospital has evaluated this autologous murine-derived anti-CD19 CAR-T cell therapy in a Phase I clinical trial in China to assess its safety and preliminary efficacy in pediatric and adult patients.
