Overview

Autologous bone marrow aspirate (BMA) + bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) is an investigational autologous cell therapy combination being developed by Apeiron Research Center, in collaboration with the University of Colorado Boulder, for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and Parkinson-plus syndromes (atypical parkinsonism). The therapeutic protocol involves the same-day collection of the patient's bone marrow, followed by the administration of unprocessed, filtered aspirate (BMA) intravenously and a centrifuged concentrate (BMAC) intranasally. This dual-delivery method is designed to provide a high concentration of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and bioactive growth factors to the systemic circulation and directly to the central nervous system via the nasal mucosa, bypassing the blood-brain barrier. The therapy aims to exert neuroprotective, immunomodulatory, and epigenetic effects to slow disease progression and reduce neuroinflammation.
