Overview

Autologous bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) is an investigational cell-based biologic therapy derived from a patient's own bone marrow, typically harvested from the iliac crest. The aspirate is processed at the point of care using density gradient centrifugation to concentrate mononuclear cells, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and various progenitor cells, along with associated cytokines and growth factors. In the DIALEG clinical trial (NCT01818310) conducted by University Hospital Ostrava, this preparation (referred to as "Group A") was evaluated for its ability to induce therapeutic angiogenesis and neovascularization in patients with type 2 diabetes suffering from no-option critical limb ischemia (CLI). The concentrate is administered via intramuscular, intra-arterial, or intravenous routes to promote blood flow restoration and tissue repair in ischemic limbs.
