Overview

This investigational cell therapy consists of autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) developed by University Hospital, Toulouse. The therapy is specifically designed for patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy who are dependent on a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). The process involves harvesting the patient's own bone marrow, followed by a 17-day isolation and culture period conducted by the French Blood Establishment. The resulting MSCs are then delivered via intramyocardial injections during device surgery. The therapeutic goal is to stimulate cardiac regeneration and repair, thereby improving myocardial function to a level that allows the patient to be successfully weaned from mechanical circulatory support.
