Autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (MNCs) is a cell therapy developed by the Royan Institute for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The therapy involves the isolation of the mononuclear cell fraction from a patient's own bone marrow, which is then administered via intracoronary injection or intramyocardial transplantation. The treatment is designed to promote cardiac tissue regeneration and angiogenesis in the infarcted area, aiming to improve left ventricular function and prevent the progression to heart failure. The Royan Institute has evaluated this therapy in clinical trials, such as the COMPARE CPM-RMI study, which compared the efficacy of MNCs and CD133+ cells in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
