This is an investigational autologous cell therapy consisting of bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (BMMNCs) developed by Shanghai Changzheng Hospital for the treatment of acute traumatic spinal cord injury. The therapy involves harvesting the patient's own bone marrow, isolating the mononuclear cell fraction, and administering them via intrathecal transplantation (lumbar injection) into the spinal canal. The biological mechanism involves the potential of these cells to modulate the spinal microenvironment, provide neurotrophic support, and potentially differentiate into neural cells to promote functional recovery. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical study to assess safety and effectiveness in patients within the acute phase of injury.
