Autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) are multipotent stromal cells harvested from a patient's own bone marrow, processed, and re-administered to treat ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Developed by the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College, this cell therapy is delivered via intracoronary injection into the infarct-related artery following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The mechanism of action involves the secretion of paracrine factors that promote angiogenesis, reduce apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, and modulate the inflammatory response, ultimately aiming to improve left ventricular ejection fraction and reduce myocardial infarct size.
