Overview

Autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells (BM-MNCs) is an investigational cell therapy being developed by Universitas Indonesia and Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The therapy involves harvesting mononuclear cells from the patient's own bone marrow and delivering them via intra-pancreatic catheterization. The mechanism of action is centered on the potential of these cells to promote the regeneration of pancreatic beta-cells, reduce insulin resistance, and enhance endogenous insulin secretion, thereby improving glycemic control in patients who have not achieved adequate results with standard treatments.
