Overview
Autologous bronchial basal cells (REGEND001) is an autologous stem cell therapy developed by Regend Therapeutics for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and bronchiectasis. The therapeutic process involves isolating basal cells from the patient's own bronchi via fiberoptic bronchoscopy or brushing, expanding these cells ex vivo, and then transplanting them back into the patient's pulmonary lesions. These cells serve as progenitor cells capable of regenerating bronchial and alveolar structures, thereby repairing damaged lung tissue and potentially restoring pulmonary function in patients with progressive respiratory failure.
