The therapy is designed to recognize and bind EpCAM on the surface of tumor cells, triggering T-cell activation, cytokine release, and targeted lysis of the malignant cells. Clinical monitoring for these therapies often focuses on potential on-target, off-tumor toxicities, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract where low levels of EpCAM are expressed.
