Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Autologous Cartibeads is an autologous cell therapy consisting of bio-engineered cartilage mini-grafts (microtissues) developed by Vanarix for the treatment of articular cartilage damage, focal knee cartilage lesions, and early osteoarthritis. The therapy is produced by harvesting a patient's own cartilage cells (chondrocytes), expanding and re-differentiating them in vitro, and forming three-dimensional hyaline-like cartilage microtissues (beads). These mini-grafts are then implanted into the damaged joint, where they self-integrate to regenerate high-quality hyaline cartilage, mimicking native articular cartilage and restoring joint function.
