Autologous cartilage paste + platelet-rich plasma is a combination regenerative therapy being developed by Lianyungang No 1 People's Hospital for the treatment of knee cartilage defects. The procedure involves harvesting healthy autologous cartilage, mincing it into a paste to serve as a scaffold and chondrocyte source, and mixing it with autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP). PRP provides a high concentration of growth factors, including TGF-β and PDGF, which stimulate chondrocyte migration, proliferation, and the synthesis of type II collagen and proteoglycans. This combination aims to enhance the biological repair of articular cartilage defects compared to traditional microfracture or paste alone.
