Overview

Autologous CD14+CD34+ cells are a specific population of cells isolated from a patient's own body (autologous) that express both the CD14 marker, typically found on monocytes, and the CD34 marker, characteristic of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs). This dual expression indicates a cell with both monocytic and stem/progenitor features. These cells are recognized as a significant source of circulating endothelial progenitors, possessing stem cell-like properties that enable them to contribute to tissue repair, angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), and vasculogenesis (formation of blood vessels from progenitor cells). Their therapeutic potential lies in their ability to differentiate into various cell types, including endothelial cells, osteoblasts, adipocytes, or neural cells, and to modulate the local microenvironment, promoting healing and vascular growth, particularly in ischemic conditions or where the function of other progenitor cells might be compromised, such as in diabetes.
