Overview

Autologous CD19-targeted CAR-T cell therapy is a cell-based biologic developed through a collaboration between Plutonet Sdn Bhd and the National University of Malaysia (UKM). The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T-cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific for the CD19 antigen, a protein commonly expressed on the surface of B-cell malignancies. Once re-infused into the patient, these engineered T-cells recognize and eliminate CD19-positive tumor cells. This product is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials (NCT06698484) for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). It represents one of the first CAR-T cell therapies to be locally manufactured in Malaysia, aiming to provide a cost-effective and accessible treatment option for Malaysian patients who have failed standard therapies.
