Autologous CD34 positive cells are a population of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) derived from the patient's own body, typically harvested from peripheral blood following mobilization with agents like granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). These cells are defined by the expression of the CD34 surface glycoprotein, a marker for primitive hematopoietic cells. In regenerative medicine, autologous CD34+ cells are investigated for their ability to home to sites of injury and promote tissue repair through paracrine signaling, angiogenesis, and potential differentiation into various cell lineages. Clinical applications include the treatment of ischemic stroke, where they are administered intrathecally to enhance neurological recovery, as well as in cardiovascular and peripheral vascular diseases.
