Overview

Stimulated autologous CD4+ T cells (also known as T-cell vaccination or TCV) is an experimental cell therapy developed by Imcyse for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The therapy involves the isolation of a patient's own CD4+ T cells, which are then activated *ex vivo* and attenuated via irradiation before being re-infused intravenously. This process is designed to trigger the patient's immune system to mount anti-idiotypic and anti-ergotypic responses against the pathogenic, myelin-reactive T cells responsible for the disease's progression. By effectively 'vaccinating' the patient against their own harmful immune cells, the therapy aims to restore immune tolerance and prevent further neurodegeneration. Although a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT02427776) was initiated to evaluate its safety and tolerability, the program was ultimately terminated by Imcyse for strategic reasons.
