Overview

Autologous cellular stromal vascular fraction (cSVF) is an investigational cell-based therapy developed by Black Tie Medical, Inc. for the treatment of residual lung damage following COVID-19 infection, including post-COVID-19 fibrotic lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and interstitial lung disease (ILD). The therapy consists of a heterogeneous mixture of stem and stromal cells, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), endothelial progenitor cells, and immune cells, isolated from the patient's own adipose tissue. The isolation process involves enzymatic digestion of adipose tissue using Liberase enzyme and centrifugation via the Healeon Centricyte 1000 system. Administered intravenously, cSVF is thought to exert therapeutic effects through anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and revascularization mechanisms, aiming to repair damaged alveolar structures and reduce fibrosis. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 0 clinical trial (NCT04326036).
