Autologous Concentrated Plasma (ACP), marketed as Arthrex ACP, is a leukocyte-poor platelet-rich plasma (PRP) biologic derived from a patient's own blood. Developed by Arthrex, Inc., it is prepared using a proprietary double-syringe system that allows for the rapid concentration of platelets while minimizing the presence of white blood cells. The therapeutic effect is mediated by the release of high concentrations of growth factors, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and stimulate angiogenesis. ACP is primarily used in orthopedics for conditions such as osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, and as an adjunct in surgical procedures like ankle arthrodesis to enhance bone fusion and soft tissue healing.
