Overview

Autologous conditioned plasma (ACP) combined with hyaluronic acid (HA) is a regenerative therapy being investigated for the treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). ACP is a specific type of leukocyte-poor platelet-rich plasma (PRP) produced using the Arthrex ACP system, which concentrates platelets to release essential growth factors such as PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and EGF. These factors promote tissue repair, collagen synthesis, and angiogenesis. Hyaluronic acid serves as a bioactive scaffold and lubricant, providing immediate hydration and facilitating cell migration and signaling. When injected into the vaginal mucosa and vulva, the combination works synergistically to restore tissue elasticity, moisture, and overall mucosal health, addressing symptoms like vaginal dryness and dyspareunia. This specific combination has been studied in clinical trials sponsored by the Santiago Dexeus Font Fundacio Privada.
