Overview

Autologous DC-CTL cells refer to a personalized cellular immunotherapy product composed of a patient’s own (autologous) dendritic cells (DCs) that are loaded ex vivo with tumor antigens and then co-cultured with the patient’s peripheral blood mononuclear cells to activate cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). The resulting product contains both antigen-loaded dendritic cells and activated CTLs. This approach is designed to stimulate a robust anti-tumor immune response by presenting tumor-associated antigens via mature DCs, which in turn activate CTLs capable of targeting and killing cancer cells. The therapy aims to enhance Th1-polarized immune responses, increase the number of cytotoxic effector lymphocytes, reduce regulatory/suppressive immune populations, and promote durable anti-tumor activity. It has been investigated primarily for advanced/metastatic cancers such as breast cancer[2], melanoma[1], glioblastoma[1], ovarian cancer[1], hepatocellular carcinoma[1], renal cell carcinoma[1], multiple myeloma[4], and mesothelioma[3]. Clinical studies have shown good tolerability with few complications reported.
