This investigational autologous dendritic cell-based immunotherapy is being developed by PT. Prodia Stem Cell Indonesia (ProSTEM) for the treatment of advanced nasopharyngeal cancer. The therapy is designed as an adjuvant treatment for patients who have achieved a partial response or stable disease following standard chemoradiation. The process involves harvesting a patient's own monocytes, which are then differentiated into dendritic cells ex vivo and re-administered to the patient. These dendritic cells act as professional antigen-presenting cells, activating the patient's T-cell mediated immune response to target and eliminate residual tumor cells. In clinical trials, this therapy is often evaluated in combination with allogeneic dendritic cell secretomes to enhance immune activation in patients with low immunity post-chemoradiation.
