The autologous dendritic cell-tumor fusion vaccine is an investigational, patient-specific cellular immunotherapy developed by the Mayo Clinic for the treatment of indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). This biologic therapy involves the manufacture of mature dendritic cells (mDCs) from a patient's own peripheral blood. In clinical studies, these mDCs are either injected intratumorally following cryoablation of a lymph node or pulsed with autologous tumor lysate (derived from the patient's excised tumor) to create a dendritic cell-tumor lysate (DC-TL) vaccine for intradermal administration. The vaccine aims to present the patient's unique lymphoma tumor antigens to the immune system, utilizing dendritic cell-mediated costimulation to trigger a systemic anti-tumor T-cell response.
