Autologous dendritic cell vaccine loaded with tumor lysate is a personalized cancer immunotherapy developed by the Instituto Oncologico Dr. Rosell. The vaccine is produced by harvesting a patient's own dendritic cells and 'pulsing' or loading them with a lysate derived from the patient's own tumor tissue. This process allows the dendritic cells to present a diverse set of tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) to the patient's immune system. Once re-administered, these mature, antigen-presenting cells activate T-lymphocytes to recognize and destroy tumor cells expressing those specific antigens. It is currently being investigated in Phase Ib/II clinical trials as a maintenance treatment for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) in combination with the PD-L1 inhibitor atezolizumab.
