This autologous dendritic cell vaccine is an investigational cellular immunotherapy developed by the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCLA for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The therapy is a personalized vaccine produced by harvesting a patient's own dendritic cells (DCs) and maturing them in vitro. These mature DCs are then loaded with antigens derived from the patient's own irradiated tumor cells. When administered back to the patient, typically via intradermal injection, these antigen-presenting cells are intended to stimulate a robust, tumor-specific T-cell immune response. The primary goal of this approach is to eliminate residual cancer cells and prevent disease recurrence in patients with early-to-mid-stage NSCLC (Stages IB, II, and IIIA) who have undergone surgical resection.
