Autologous dendritic cells pulsed with hepatitis C virus (HCV) core and nonstructural protein 3 (NS3) antigens is a therapeutic vaccine designed to treat chronic HCV infection. This cell-based immunotherapy involves isolating a patient's own dendritic cells (autologous), which are then loaded (pulsed) ex vivo with recombinant HCV core and NS3 proteins. These antigen-presenting cells are subsequently re-administered to the patient, where they are intended to stimulate a robust and specific adaptive immune response, including both CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell responses, against the Hepatitis C virus. The goal is to enhance the body's ability to clear the virus or significantly reduce its viral load, addressing the immune evasion mechanisms often seen in chronic HCV infection.
